Import a subscription and connect
Work through each step from your account to your client. Skip anything you have already completed. If this is your first time, connect one device first, then import the same account’s subscription on your other devices.
Create an account and open your dashboard
Start on the VPNHear account creation page and enter the username and password you want to use. No email address is required; a username and password are all you need to create an account. Use a unique password and save your login details with your device’s password manager. You’ll need this account to view plans, get your subscription, and submit support tickets.
After submitting the form, follow the page instructions to open the dashboard. If you’re taken to a login page, sign in with the username and password you just set. First, make sure you can open the account overview; there’s no need to look for servers yet. An account and an active plan are separate things: being able to sign in confirms your credentials work, but you’ll still need to choose a plan before checking your subscription.
If your username is unavailable, change it and try again. If you can’t sign in, check your keyboard layout, capitalization, and whether any spaces were included when copying your credentials. Don’t create multiple accounts just to troubleshoot a typo. If you already have an account, sign in to that one so your order isn’t tied to a different account while you look for its subscription.
You’re ready to move on when you can open the dashboard and see your account overview. Choose a plan from the same account next.
Choose a plan and confirm activation
Open the plans section in the dashboard and decide between a monthly subscription and a data package. Monthly subscriptions suit regular use: ¥9.9/month for 60GB, ¥18/month for 250GB, or ¥28/month for 500GB. Data resets monthly on the activation date, not on the first day of the calendar month. If you upgrade mid-cycle, the price difference is prorated for the remaining days; check the dashboard for the final details.
If your usage varies, compare the data packages: ¥158/300GB, ¥358/1000GB, or ¥658/3000GB. They don’t expire and remain available until used. The no-expiration term applies to data packages, not monthly subscriptions. Decide whether you need a monthly plan or data to use later, and compare prices and terms on the plans page.
Before paying, check the plan name, amount, and billing method shown in the order, then follow the dashboard instructions to pay with Alipay, WeChat Pay, or USDT. After payment, return to the dashboard to check the order status and confirm the plan details have been updated in your account overview. A completed payment on an external page doesn’t mean the client has received the new configuration; you’ll still need to get or refresh your subscription.
If your order is still marked as pending, return to the original order and check its status. Don’t place another identical order. Keep the order details in your dashboard and submit a support ticket if needed. VPNHear offers a 14-day no-questions-asked refund policy; see the Terms of Service for the application rules. For payment issues or refund questions, visit the Help Center.
You’re ready to continue when the order and plan status in your dashboard match. Once confirmed, open the account overview to get your subscription; there’s no need to create another account.
Get your subscription and add it to a client
Return to your account overview and find the subscription or client import section. Your subscription gives the client the server configuration available to your account. It isn’t a website address for a particular region or an installer. Even after installing a client, you’ll need to import your subscription so it knows which servers to connect to.
If the dashboard offers an import option for your installed client, use it. Your browser may ask whether to open an external app; check that the app name matches the client you want to use before continuing. If the client doesn’t open, install it by following the next section, then come back and try again. A browser download issue doesn’t mean your subscription is invalid.
To add it manually, copy your subscription link from the dashboard, then open the subscription or configuration manager in your client. Choose the option to add from a link and paste the full link into the address field. Give it a name that’s easy for you to recognize, then save and refresh or download the configuration. Wait for the server list to appear before connecting.
Your subscription link is tied to your account. Only paste it into a client you use yourself; don’t post it in public forums, screenshots, or online conversion tools. When contacting support, describe the error and where it appeared instead of sending the full link. The example below shows the format only and cannot be imported:
https://example.com/sub?token=YOUR_TOKEN
You’re ready to continue when you’ve found your subscription in the dashboard. The import step is complete only after the client can refresh it and display a server list; copying the link alone isn’t enough.
Install and import on your platform
Sign in to the dashboard, open the downloads section, and choose the VPNHear client for your device. Downloading the client and getting your subscription are separate steps: on platforms other than iOS, you can download the client after signing in. Get your subscription from the account overview. For iOS access requirements, follow the dashboard instructions. Avoid installers from sources you don’t recognize.
Windows: Add the link in the configuration section
Install and open the Windows desktop client provided in the dashboard. Look for subscription management, configuration management, or an import section before connecting. If you opened the client from the dashboard, check whether the configuration was added. To do it manually, choose the option to add from a URL or link, paste the full subscription address you copied, and save.
Refresh the configuration, check that regional servers appear in the list, and select the newly imported configuration. Some clients separate “save configuration” and “enable configuration”; if the old configuration remains active after saving, switch to the new one manually. If a system permission prompt appears when you connect, verify the app’s source and follow the prompt. Keep the client’s default mode until you’ve confirmed that access works, then adjust the rules if needed.
macOS: Check the import and system permissions
Download the macOS client from the downloads section, install it as instructed, and open it. Use the client’s subscription management feature to add a subscription or import it from a link. You can also return to the dashboard and use its import button. If your browser asks whether to open an app, confirm the client name, then check that the configuration appears in the app.
Refresh the configuration, select a server, and connect. macOS may ask you to allow a network configuration or enter your device credentials. This is a device-level permission and is separate from your VPNHear account password. After approving it, check the client status. If the subscription was imported but no servers appear, make sure the configuration is selected and refresh it; reinstalling repeatedly won’t replace this step.
Android: Check the background connection
Download the Android client from the dashboard, install it as prompted, and open it. Go to the subscription, configuration, or add section and paste your subscription link using the import-from-link option. If the dashboard supports direct import, you can also return to the app from your browser. Save and refresh the subscription, check that the server list appears, then select a server and connect.
The first time you connect, Android may ask to set up a VPN connection. Check the app name and approve the prompt. If the connection works in the foreground but drops in the background, check your device’s background activity and battery settings. Settings vary across devices, so adjust only what’s needed for your client. For background operation and per-app proxy settings, see the Android client guide. You don’t need to change every advanced setting before connecting for the first time.
iOS: Get the client using the dashboard instructions
On iOS, start by checking the available options in the dashboard’s downloads section. The dashboard will explain the requirements for getting and using the client. If you meet them, follow the instructions to open the App Store. Don’t use installation files intended for other platforms or look for unverified alternative download links outside this guide.
Install and open a client that supports subscription configurations, then return to the dashboard and use its import option, or choose the add-from-link option in the app’s subscription or configuration section. Refresh the subscription, select a server, and connect. Follow the system prompt to allow the VPN configuration. If the app received the subscription but hasn’t connected, check the selected configuration and connection switch in the app. Importing a subscription doesn’t turn on the system connection automatically.
Using Linux and other devices
VPNHear also supports Linux. Check the dashboard’s downloads section for compatible clients and import instructions. This guide doesn’t cover command-line setup or differences in system network configuration. Unlimited devices can be online at the same time, but you’ll need to import and enable the configuration on each one. Connecting successfully on a computer doesn’t set up your other devices automatically.
You’re ready to continue when the client has selected your subscription configuration and a refresh shows the server list. Next, choose a server and check that you can access the service.
Connect to a server and check access
Choose a server in a region supported by the service you want to use. VPNHear offers 90+ countries / 210+ servers; see the servers page for regional options, then check which servers are currently available in your dashboard. A region name alone doesn’t guarantee that a platform will work. The service may also check your account region, subscription permissions, or other requirements.
Once you’ve chosen a server, connect and wait for the client status to change. Reopen the website you want to visit, or close and reopen the app. Check that the page loads, your login status is as expected, and the features you need are available. A “connected” status means the connection step has progressed; the service’s actual response is the final check.
If you can’t access the service, disconnect first and confirm that your device can still get online. Then refresh the subscription in your client and check that the imported configuration is enabled. If your internet connection works and the server list is visible, try another server in a region supported by the service. Change one setting at a time and keep the error message so you can tell whether the issue is with the subscription, server connection, or platform itself.
If the website loads but a video service or AI tool still reports a region, account, or permission issue, don’t assume every message means the connection has failed. Check the service’s account requirements, then use the Help Center to identify the issue. Our streaming access guide explains how region detection, video quality requirements, and account regions relate. Advanced troubleshooting isn’t covered here.
Once the connection works, you can import the same account’s subscription on other supported platforms and complete system permissions and access checks on each one. When your plan changes or server configurations are updated, refresh the subscription in the client and check your selected server. VPNHear follows a no-logs policy. Keep your account and subscription details secure, and don’t include them in public screenshots.
You’re all set when the client shows a normal connection status and you can access the website or app you intended to use. Setup is complete. To use another device, repeat the import and connection check steps.
